    No subtitles = reaches fewer people. It's basic maths, really. Even the most evenly delivered Londonian english needs subtitles - and not only to cater to those with hearing disabilities, but to cater to everyone who would have trouble following the sound of the voice alone. Pair the stand up routine with subtitles and it's easier for a lot of people to follow. But then again, I'm used to subtitles, living in a country where english is not the no.1 language (but it comes in as a close 2nd).

    • @Aiysha17

      haha that's him toning it down and trying to speak clearly for performance but he has improved much more now. Being Scottish, I know how funny he is, so that's why I really wanted to subtitle it because our accent is difficult to understand sometimes. To help him be understood better because I find him hilarious lol

  • @uadimwit

    thanks for the subtitles so us tanks from the state's can understand the gibberish you folks in the UK call English...

    • @somescottishguy191
      @somescottishguy191 7 років тому

      Gene Nelson yeah it isn't an easy task understanding some people in the UK. Especially Scotland. While most scots would call English their language, they only really write in English but tend to speak a mixture of English, Scots and Gaelic. Some words sound english, some sound slightly different and other words are swapped out for something else entirely. This is why no one can truly be fluent in any language as the same language evolves differently from place to place. It doesn't mean Brits can't speak English in it's purest form. It just feels wierd when we do. The same rules apply to many places in the states although most English speakers have little to no issue understanding Americans due to your movies, tv shows and music being so widespread.

  • @JohnM...
    @JohnM... 7 років тому

    To any non UK residents, if you come to Glasgow, AVOID people who speak exactly like this. 99% of them will be scumbags. You can tell, as when they speak, they have no concept of the word " volume ", and try intimidation tactics by talking AT YOU from approximately 2 inches away. ( I'm Glaswegian by the way, so you can't say I'm being anti Scottish).

    • @baconshrub4436
      @baconshrub4436 7 років тому

      You're not necessarily being anti-Scottish, but you are insulting a whole bunch of people you've never met with a blanket statement. From where I'm sitting it's more likely that it's just you who's a scumbag, and that's why other Glaswegians don't treat you well.

    • @JohnM...
      @JohnM... 7 років тому

      gordon christie Yes, ( I too speak a bit like this) but this accent is the Universal Glaswegian scumbag accent. Who would you, if you were a tourist, trust more: someone who sounds like a junkie, or someone who sounds like their parents pay for their tuition at Hutcheson's?

    • @baconshrub4436
      @baconshrub4436 7 років тому

      John M If you base your judgement of an entire peoples purely by an accent, you're the scumbag, buddy. You can't make a blanket statement like that and hope to be even vaguely accurate.
